There might not be a bigger Dallas Cowboys fan favorite at the moment than Brandon Aubrey. Joining the team in 2023, Aubrey has become one of the NFL’s top kickers. Not only is he accurate but Aubrey seemingly has unlimited range. Truly one of the bigger special weapons out there.

Forgetting 60-yard attempts for a moment, how good is Aubrey from 60 feet, six inches with his arm? We found out on Tuesday night with the Texas Rangers hosting the Kansas City Royals. Aubrey threw out the ceremonial first pitch from the rubber, not a place everyone stands.

A video posted by the Rangers did not show the pitch itself. However, Aubrey’s reaction is one where you assume things went well for him. You can check out the full video here, captioned “He’s even butter from the bump” with a butter emoji.

The Rangers are celebrating Dallas Cowboys night on Tuesday. And as the baseball team plays in Globe Life Field, Aubrey attempts his field goal kicks from not too far away. Both teams are in Arlington and the stadiums are within walking distance of one another. To make the moment even more special, Aubrey is a Plano native and attended Plano High School.

A nice crossover event for two of Dallas’ favorite teams. Aubrey gets a night off from football activities too, with the Cowboys just wrapping up minicamp. Next up will be a trip out West to Oxnard for the beginning of training camp.

More on Brandon Aubrey, success with Dallas Cowboys

Aubrey was a soccer player in college at Notre Dame. He got a start in the MLS with Toronto FC before making a move to Bethlehem Steel FC in the USL. Being released ended his soccer career and watching an NFL game one day, randomly sparked his football playing days.

Two years were spent in the USFL with the Birmingham Barrons. Suddenly, the Dallas Cowboys came talking about their open kicker position. Aubrey took the opportunity and has not looked back ever since.

Of his 85 attempts over the past two seasons, Aubrey has made 76 of them. Four of them have been blocked but for the most part, everything goes through the uprights. Aubrey is also in charge of kickoffs and with the new rules, he has been a massive asset for the Cowboys.

More is expected during the 2025 season. Aubrey is in the final year of his contact and could be set to make a ton of money in the offseason.
